The empty pastel beach Miami locals keep to themselves.

North Beach is where Miamians go when they want the postcard without the crowd. At sunrise the water goes pastel pink and turquoise, and the art deco lifeguard towers have the sand almost to themselves.

Bring a cafecito from the ventanita on 73rd, walk the shoreline south, and you'll pass maybe five people before 8am.

Local tips

  • ✦Sunrise is the whole point — be on the sand by 6:45am.
  • ✦Park free on the side streets west of Collins before 8am.
  • ✦Grab a cafecito at the 73rd St ventanita on the way.
